Construction Corner

A weekly series to explain common construction terms.

Design-Build: The 15 Express Lanes project is using a design-build delivery method. Design-build means the same team provides both design and construction services. This is different than a design-bid-build project, in which separate teams provide different services. The benefits of a design-build process are:

  • Reduced design time
  • Simplified construction drawings
  • Easier communication
  • Single point of contact
  • More flexibility in design changes
  • More cost-effective
